I never thought about being in investment management and financial planning growing up. I thought I would be a surgeon, like my dad. However, after several ‘shadow’ days in the OR and realizing I didn’t have the stomach for surgery, I decided I would be better suited in healthcare behind a desk. I worked as a physician recruiter for almost twenty years: traveled the country, learned all about the medical schooling, training programs, certifications, and specialties. It was fascinating to meet these insanely smart and gifted people who could heal the broken, repair life within seconds, and rebuild bodies to get a second chance, but simultaneously they knew nothing about how to interview with managers, find a job, and manage their newfound wealth while reducing their medical school debt.
I thoroughly enjoyed advising these physicians on the ways of life in practice and watching their practices thrive over the years. Eventually, I advanced into a leadership role and worked in downtown Dallas, my hometown. My husband, J. Andy Harris, has been in investment management and financial planning since I met him in 2004. Our professional lives would intertwine here and there, and he’s spent the last 10 years trying to convince me to make a career change and join him in his business. In 2023, I finally took Andy up on his offer to join him at Allred Harris. I have always been passionate about helping others achieve the best life possible, so joining Andy in business felt like a natural next step.
I spent some months studying, and one day I went to Muffins with Mom with my elementary school son in the morning, then took and passed the Series 65 exam that afternoon and went to a lacrosse practice for my older son that night.
To say I understand the life of a working woman and mom is an understatement. I live it and love it daily. My clients know I look forward to engaging with them for life and financial planning because I am Always Here.
